Boston Community Mentoring Team

When IBEW Local 103 Business Manager, Lou Antonellis, swore in this year's class of apprentices - it was the most diverse class in our Union’s history. In 2015, a report from the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston revealed that the medium net worth for non-immigrant households of color in the greater Boston region was $8 compared to their white counterparts at $247,500. When William Moran, Founder and CEO of the Boston Community Mentoring Team, heard these stats he knew he had to help. This is where the partnership between IBEW Local 103 and the Boston Community Mentoring Team began. 

Because of the hard work and dedication of the Community Mentoring Team, of the 375 apprentices sworn into Local 103 this year, 51% were either women or people of color. The Boston Community Mentoring Team is a pre-apprenticeship program that prepares people of color with the skills and confidence to be successful in the Union.
